May 24-June 1 Happening Menus

The Hintonburg Public House, 1020 Wellington Street West has created a set Happening 3 course dinner with an appetizer, 2 main courses & a dessert for $40. Vegetarian option available.
Tennessy Willems, 1082 Wellington Street West. The banoffee Pie has been an Allium staple for many years with glowing reviews. What Allium perfected, we can only hope to recreate as best we can, while we wait for allium to reopen its doors, it's your chance to come to try out one of their dishes that made Allium famous.

Open Vessels, Hintonburg Pottery, 1242 1/2 Wellington Street West. Of the earth and from the rock, is a celebration of ceramic work by Newfoundland Artists: Jen Bruce, Maaike Charron, Rachel Dragland, Michael Flaherty, Jason Holley, Erin McArthur, Erin Callahan St. John, Isabella St. John, Anita Singh, and Alexis Templeton, Exhibit runs May 16 - 31.
Flowers & Art: the Perfect Combination, at Bloomfields Flowers, 1280 Wellington Street West. Join us as we introduce beautiful new works of art by local artist Andrea Stokes. Andrea is an Ottawa based painter and textile artist, with a background in textile, pattern and surface design. Andrea has been exhibiting and active in the visual arts community as an educator, curator and exhibitor in Ottawa for over 13 years. These abstract works are Andrea’s newest body of work, exploring colour, line, and mark making.

Friday, May 24
Opening Event for The Happening 2019 Festival, 7pm-10pm at Vimy Brewing Co., 145 Loretta Avenue. EVERYONE is welcome & encouraged to invited your neighbours & friends over to join us for a night of craft beer, live music, skateboarding, crafts and fun for the kids. The folks from Birling Skateboard Shop will be on site offering free skateboard lessons to anyone interested (7pm to 9pm). Skateboards and helmets will be provided to those who do not have them. PLUS GT Express will be onsite with some fun kids’ activities. Something for everyone, so stop by for a fun night in the hood. This will kick off a great week of celebrating our Wellington West neighbourhood.
Happening Community Yoga Class, 7:30pm-8:15pm at Prana Shanti, 52 Armstrong Street. Yoga for $5! It’s a great way to try a yoga class and kick off the Festival weekend!

The HPH Open Mic, 3pm-5pm at The Hintonburg Public House, 1020 Wellington Street West. Muskoka Brewery Presents The HPH Open Mic With Jess Cole the last Saturday of every month. DIY Zero Waste Cleaning Product Workshop, 1pm at Nu Grocery, 1130 Wellington Street West. We love building our community (and the zero waste community) around workshops. Encouraging them to come out, meet people and learn new skills. We will demonstrate quick and easy to make, affordable and, of course, zero waste recipes: from making laundry powder to all-purpose cleaner, toilet bombs and air fresheners. (BYO jar to get some samples!)

Howie Hooper's Centre Stage Open Mic, 1-4pm at Vimy Brewing Company, 145 Loretta Avenue North. An Open Stage that offers a place were players can come play and share in the experiences of Live Music. A community to play, learn and network.
Chakra & Yin Yoga, 2pm-5pm at Prana Shanti, 52 Armstrong Street. Join Maria Figueroa and Stéphane Ippersiel for a 3-hour workshop on how Yin Yoga can be used as an effective tool to re-align your Chakras and get your energy flowing! When our Chakras are misaligned or blocked, we can feel stressed, anxious, stuck or even lethargic. They will introduce the Chakras and Meridian Theory at the start of our session before moving into a guided 90-minute Yin practice. During our practice the benefits of the shapes for your Chakras will be explained. A handout of the poses and their benefits will be included for you to take home. They will cover: Review of the Chakras (with a focus on Root, Heart and Throat Chakras), Introduction to Meridian Theory, Explanation of selected Yin Yoga shapes and their effect on Chakras and Meridians. Cost: $65.00 per student plus you can receive a Happening 20% discount. Maximum capacity for this workshop is 25 people.

Happening Beer Bike Raffle Party, 4pm-6pm at The Hintonburg Public House, 1020 Wellington Street West. To celebrate the winner of the Woodward Beer Bike raffle & to thank everyone who purchased a ticket The HPH will be hosting a FREE BEER sample event with Whiprsnapr Brewing Co with additional prizes to be won. The winner will be chosen & announced at 5:30 pm. For those that have not heard, The Hintonburg Public House is excited to have collaborated with Woodward Bicycle Co. to create a custom HPH beer cruiser. Valued at $950, it features a Sturmey Archer single speed coaster brake rear hub, formula front hub, alloy rims, hand built wheels, Tektro front brake system, front carrier rack with room for a 12 pack of beer featuring The HPH logo. All this and more assembled onto a high tensile fully tig-welded steel frame that has been painted in a black satin finish.
